What is Caffeine?

Caffeine is actually a crystalline xanthine alkaloid, which is actually a specialist term used to describe substances which have been created via nitrogen metabolism in certain plants. In nature for example, caffeine is found naturally in tea and coffee plants, and it actually serves as a self-defence mechanism in these plants, due to the fact that it acts as a pesticide. It acts as a pesticide to help prevent bugs and insects eating the leaves of the plants. In human beings however, caffeine is quite safe, providing it is used sensibility, and it functions very differently. Rather than acting as a pesticide in humans, caffeine actually acts as a natural stimulant, providing temporary increases in energy and mental focus. As mentioned, caffeine is found in natural sources, including coffee beans and tea leaves, which is why these caffeinated beverages help wake us up once the caffeine enters our system. However, it is also added to many energy drinks and fat burning supplements, as well as being available in pure form, to be used naturally.

How does it work?

Basically, caffeine works as a stimulant due to the fact that it has been found to alter the chemistry of the human brain, blocking various actions of regular brain chemicals that help us feel tired, sleepy, and lethargic. Adenosine for example, is a chemical responsible for lethargy that binds onto specialist adenosine receptors within the brain. Once binded, nerve cell activity is reduced, but once caffeine is consumed, to specialist nerve cells, the caffeine looks almost identical to adenosine, and so it too will bind to these cells. However, caffeine behaves very differently to adenosine, as rather than promoting lethargy and drowsiness, caffeine instead provides stimulating effects, making us feel more energized and alert. Caffeine also blocks the adenosine, so more neurons are able to fire in the brain, and again, more energy and focus will be achieved. Things don’ts top there however, as adrenalin is also produced, as the pituitary gland, sensing that something is different, sends a message to the adrenal glands to produce adrenalin, also known as epinephrine.

What are the main benefits of caffeine supplements?

Although we know the main benefits associated with caffeine, let’s take a look at some of the other benefits we may not have previously considered. These include:

Increase in energy

Obviously this is the most obvious benefit associated with caffeine, and rightfully so. For times when you’re feeling tired, or are struggling to focus, caffeine can provide a strong, but temporary, increase in energy levels, which is why many pre-workout supplements contain caffeine as a primary ingredient.

Fat loss

Many fat burning supplements also contain caffeine as a key ingredient, due to the fact that caffeine will increase your heart rate and will help boost your metabolism, allowing you to burn more calories and convert them into more energy as a result. Many athletes and bodybuilders looking to cut and strip away body fat, will include caffeine as part of their supplement stack.

Great for the brain

Caffeine is also found in many nootropical supplements and medications, due to the fact that it has been found to provide a number of benefits for the human brain. Caffeine helps to improve mental clarity and focus, it helps to increase concentration levels and short-term memory, and it is widely believed to be able to help prevent degenerative and cognitive diseases and issues, such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

  • Helps promote fat loss
  • Helps increase energy levels
  • Improves brain health and function
  • Can help increase muscle growth
  • Improved athletic performance
  • Increased reaction times
  • Helps boost the immune system
  • Can help enhance mental clarity and memory
  • And more...

How and when should it be consumed?

Caffeine is a very potent supplement and for that reason, you should never exceed the recommended daily dosage. Experts recommend a maximum of 400mg per day. Per serving, it is recommended you consume around 200mg – 300mg mixed with water, starting on the lower end of the spectrum to help assess your tolerance. Remember, if you drink caffeinated beverages such as tea or coffee, they also contain caffeine, so make sure you take those into account and never exceed 400mg per day.

Health Canada Recommended Dose (capsules): Adults: 1 Capsule(s) 1 - 5 time(s) per day. Take 1 capsule every 3 - 4 hours, as needed. Do not exceed 5 capsules daily.

Caffeine VS Synephrine HCL

Caffeine is often compared to synephrine HCL, and although similar, the two are still very unique to one another. Synephrine HCL has been found to provide more substantial weight loss benefits as opposed to energy boosting benefits, and so for that reason, the two are often consumed together.

What can you stack it with?

As mentioned, caffeine is often stacked with Synephrine HCL for people trying to lose weight and burn fat, although it must be consumed in safe dosages. Other people will consume caffeine with Taurine, Nitric Oxide Supplements, L-Arginine and L-Glutamine, to create a pre-workout supplement.

Preferred the little jars instead of the bag, especially for pills.
Answer: Hi Jim, we have made the transition so to sachets because it has less of an environmental impact and reduces our costs in order to keep offering competitive pricing.

Good Price, but order with 99$+
Brock H. on 21/07/2016

Good price, but best bought with the 99$+free shipping because a lot of caffeine pills elsewhere are around the same price (including wal-mart) if you buy this product on its own ($4.99+$9.99 shipping).

They come in capsules, which is great because if you're like me, who wants to make my own preworkout, you can open up the capsules and put the caffeine in your shake.

The only reason I'm giving 4/5 and not 5/5 is because if you want these capsules and nothing else, you have to pay for $9.99 shipping which ends up costing you more than other stores.

small easy-to swallow capsules. Excellent low price. only drawback is since they are capsules, when you would prefer a 100mg dose, you cannot cut them in half like a pill.

Feel the Rush

I bought these caffeine pills, mainly for the price and to test to them out. I can confidently say that this is a solid product. I compared these directly to the other caffeine pills that I had (which I knew worked) and the feeling I got was the same. Caffeine is caffeine.
