What is Creatine Ethyl Ester?

Creatine is a compound that is found naturally within the human body, as well as in a number of dietary sources, including red meat such as beef. It has been found to provide a number of benefits for the human body, particularly in terms of athletic performance and muscle function. Creatine ethyl ester is basically a form of creatine monohydrate, that has had an extra ester salt attached to it. Esters are basically compounds that are fully organic, that are created via the reaction of alcohols and carboxylic acid, which is a process known as esterfication. Creatine is absorbed by the cells where it then helps to produce additional ATP (Adenosine Tri-Phopsphate) energy which allows the cells to function. However, with creatine monohydrate a lot of the creatine will not be adequately absorbed by the cell, so it will sit outside of the cells, going to waste, and basically causing what is known as “creatine bloat” as it draws extra water into the cells instead.

How does it work?

As mentioned, creatine EE is basically creatine with an additional ester molecule attached, which is important due to the fact that it increases and improves creatine absorption. Creatine monohydrate is known as being semi-lipopholic, which means that it can only utilize some fats to be able to permeate and enter cell walls. Esters are located in the fat tissues of animals, and as a result, the ester allows the creatine molecules to use lipids (fats) in order to penetrate cell walls and fully enter the cells. Basically, creatine ethyl ester can utilize lipids (fats) much more efficiently, allowing more of the creatine molecules to be absorbed by the cells. Once absorbed, the creatine helps the cells to generate more ATP, which in turn means that the muscle cells can function more efficiently before they begin to fatigue and tire. This is why creatine EE is considered such as important supplement in terms of athletic performance and muscle growth. It doesn’t build muscle per se, but what it does do is make the muscles work more effectively so that they work harder, making workouts and exercise more beneficial. The harder you work in the gym, the more stress you will place on the muscles and the bigger and stronger they will be re-built.

How and when should it be consumed?

Creatine EE VS Creatine Monohydrate

Creatine ethyl ester is basically a superior version of creatine monohydrate, due to the fact that the added ester molecule allows more of the creatine to be absorbed by the cells. With creatine monohydrate, as the molecules are only semi-lipolic, they can only semi-penetrate the cell walls, so obviously not as much creatine can be absorbed. Whilst still beneficial, creatine monohydrate is not as effective as creatine EE.

I can comment on the effects of the creatine as i just purchased it the taste and smell is on par with bleach. Don't see how people can consume it. Stick with creapure.

I agree it an awful taste however I notice a huge difference and seems to be pretty effective. However personally stopped taking this product it made my hand numb/tingle. I followed the suggested use but since i stopped taking it the numbness went away. It could however just be a personal side effect.

The taste of this product is aweful. It's hard to just do CE2 and water and sip it slowly, you have to do this in a shot or mix it with juice or other flavourable supplements. Also, you can not mix this with food unlike with monohydrate. Aside from the taste, I would recommend this type of creatine to people.
