What is Hoodia?
Hoodia is a plant extract formed from the plant
Hoodia Gordinii which grows in South Africa and Namibia. Hoodia falls under the
plant family of Apocynaceae and are a natural spiky
flowering plant grown in warm, dry climates. This specific strain of Hoodia was
founded as early as 1779 but deeper study into using hoodia as an appetite
suppressant was not discovered until 1937. It was then that the affect of Hoodia
Gordinii on suppressing the appetite was realized. Hoodia Gordinii contains is
essentially an enzyme called p57 which is thought to be the active ingredient
in its effect. When p57 is metabolized it can alter levels of ATP an energy
molecule shown to control hunger. In theory the increased levels of p57sends a
message to the hypothalamus, the control center of the human brain, to promote
a feeling of fullness or satiety. This makes Hoodia an effective supplement to
promote weight loss by limiting food intake. Users find that Hoodia taken
before meals can promote a reduction in appetite allowing one to fight off
hunger cravings and allow for easier periods of dieting or caloric restriction.
Hoodia itself does not directly stimulate fat loss but it allows one to consume
less calories by reducing the appetite.
How to take Hoodia?
Hoodia is best consumed 1 hour prior to meals on an empty stomach with
8-10 ounces of cold water. The optimal dose ranges from 2000mg-3000mg (4-6
capsules per day, each capsule being 500mg). Users should start with 1 capsule
1 hour prior to eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner and assess if the appetite
is suppressed. If no appetite suppressing effects occur you may need to
increase the dose to 2 capsules before breakfast, lunch and dinner.
What to stack it with?
Hoodia is an excellent addition to any fat loss supplements including
green tea extract, acetyl L-carnitine, caffeine androhyrdous, and other
thermogenics fat burners. Hoodia will act to suppress the appetite while other
supplements cause direct fat loss. Hoodia at a dose of 2000mg per day + 1000mg
green tea extract has shown to be a good combination for reduced appetite and
natural fat burning.

Fat Loss- Hoodia can promote greater fat loss due to its effects on
suppressing the appetite of the user. Although Hoodia does not directly burn
fat it is excellent when used in combination with other fat burners to target
